Ana Huang’s book series, Twisted, is being adapted into a Netflix TV show after the rights were acquired—news that will have any #BookTok or #Bookstagram fanatic screaming with joy. (And yes, we are screaming!) If you're on either #BookTok or #Bookstagram, chances are you’ve seen this sensational series being raved about.

Twisted is heading to the small screen (but making BIG moves in the book community). It’s poised to be the next big hit for Netflix—joining the ranks of Bridgerton and the soon-to-be-adapted Quicksilver. As long-time readers of Ana Huang, our team is thrilled to see this series brought to life. Keep reading for details on Huang's deal, her book series, and our speculations.
Non-Discreet Covers:
The rights to Ana Huang’s book series were acquired by Netflix in a seven-figure deal. Twisted—a four-book series—is described in a press release as “a steamy new adult series that follows the lives of four best friends and their brooding love interests, riddled with dark secrets from their pasts, as they overcome the obstacles keeping them apart to fall in love.”
If reading isn’t for you but you enjoy billionaires with complex feelings and love stories that could burn down the world, then this series—whether on paper or screen—is for you.
To date, the series has sold over 12 million copies, and its debut novel, Twisted Love—released in April 2021—spent over 60 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. On TikTok, #twistedseries boasts over two billion views.
While no details on casting or production have been shared yet, it’s safe to say the show already has a built-in audience, with over 12 million copies sold and translation rights in 34 countries.
The original covers are shown above, but the series has since been re-released with “discreet” covers. Huang’s original covers offer insight into how she initially imagined each male character. As both a reader and an eager viewer, it’ll be interesting to see whether she stays true to her original vision or if the production takes the story in a new direction.
As a fan of the Twisted series and its spin-offs—Kings of Sin and Gods of the Game (which overlap with Twisted but can be read as standalones)—I can say this series is an easy, fun read with swoon-worthy romances, each following a different couple.
Discreet Covers:
There are four books in the “Twisted” series:
Twisted Love (2021), Alex and Ava’s brother's-best-friend billionaire with a heart of ice romance
Twisted Games (2021), Rhys and Bridget’s royal romance, the princess and the bodyguard
Twisted Hate (2022), Josh and Jules’ enemies-to-lovers romance, doctors and lawyers were never meant to be friends
Twisted Lies (2022), Christian and Stella’s fake-dating billionaire romance
Best known for the Twisted series, Ana Huang has published 13 books across four series and sold more than 18 million copies of her novels worldwide. The Twisted series is set in the same universe as Kings of Sin and Gods of the Game, with characters and storylines carrying over between the interconnected standalone books.
Her next book, King of Envy—the fifth in the Kings of Sin series—is set for release on April 29. It's a romance about a morally gray billionaire hero and can be read as a standalone. She’s also set to publish The Defender, book two in the Gods of the Game series, in October.
Spin-Off Series "Kings of Sin" set in the same world as "Twisted":

Spin-Off Series Gods of the Game set in the same world as Twisted:
While The Defender's release date has not been confirmed, it is rumored to be released in October of 2025. Until then, readers will soon be able to enjoy the next installment in the Kings of Sin, which is set to be a seven-book series, and Games of the Gods has not been confirmed on how long it will be.
When it comes to the show, our hopes and speculations lean toward a format similar to Netflix’s Bridgerton adaptation. Ideally, each season would follow a different couple—like the books—while allowing subplots and supporting characters' stories to unfold in the background.
Since some characters introduced in Twisted also appear in Kings of Sin and Gods of the Game, it would be amazing to see the adaptation weave all of Huang’s interconnected stories into one cohesive universe for readers (and now viewers) to invest in.
Netflix has seen massive success with Bridgerton, and fans are hoping for that same level of excitement and production quality for Huang’s Twisted series. And if Netflix let us choose the theme song? It would absolutely be “Twisted” by MISSIO—with its catchy beat, fitting lyrics, popularity in the bookish community, and, of course, the matching title. A perfect pairing.
Other Completed Series by Ana Huang:
But Twisted isn’t the only beloved series heading for adaptation. Readers can get ready to see many of their favorite books hit the screen, including We Were Liars, Quicksilver, Fourth Wing, People We Meet on Vacation, and more!
