If you didn't watch the Call Her Daddy interview with Sarah J Maas then you're missing some serious tea -- the Suriel approves this message. Not only does Sarah dive deep into mental health, but she tells us why she disappeared for so long and what she has been working on.

First off, we have lots coming from Sarah. Like two books in 3 months. Second of all, Sarah is someone we feel like we now know. This interview with Alex was intimate and felt like Sarah was really letting us into not just the worlds and characters that she writes, but into her as a person, mother and wife.
Sarah said that ACOTAR 6 was becoming too big to physically print as a single book and that it has since turned into four part book. ACOTAR 6, Part 1, will release on October 27, 2026, with ACOTAR 7, Part 2 & 3, coming January 12, 2027. Oh and that is not all, we will be getting a Christmas Surprise as well. (Cue us really wanting WHAT LORCAN DID!). Now, there will be a Part 4, but that is still in the works!
“I’ve been working and working on that. It’s been a long time coming. It’s something that — it took me a long time to write, just because there were enough things going on in my life that I had to sort through,” Sarah explained. “It’s taken a while because it took me a while to find the right story and to be in the right headspace.”
What Sarah had to say on the length of ACOTAR 6:
“It's just the story that was finally ready to come out of me was big—really, really, really big,” she explained. “And as I started writing this in, like, Montana, like energy vortex, it came out of me in a way that surprised me. I like to do like parts—like part one, part two, part three—by the time I got to the end of part one, it was like 400 pages long.”
While there is no confirmation (or denial) of which characters ACOTAR 6 & 7 will follow, readers are already speculating it will be Elain. This writer however thinks it will be a continuation of Nesta's storyline that we were able to see explored in Crescent City 3 with the cross over.
Important Things:
Sarah has ALL her rights back and had this to say about her characters: “I don't ever want to hear we need to change this to appeal to XYZ demographic. No, that's not how you make art. That's not how I create my stories.”
Feyre + Rhysand and Nesta + Cassian are perfect mates - the theories of Rhysand being evil might as well go down the drain after she explained their relationships
“Just because they lost their power doesn't mean they lost their strength.” -- THANK YOU SARAH for this comment.
Sarah telling her rejecton story from not just agents but pubslishers. Your yes is coming. Write your story.
“Manon should be in therapy.”
While it isn't set in stone - Tamlin most likely will not get a redemption arc. “It’s tricky because I’ve had so many women, including some very dear friends of mine who come up and told me about how they saw their own abusive relationship mirrored in Tamlin,” she admitted. “If I were to ever write more about Tamlin, it would be done in a way where it doesn’t erase what he has done and it doesn’t invalidate the feelings of my readers who have connected to that.” Sarah added, “It would have to be done in a way that was genuine to him and to reality. But also well aware of what he means for different types of people and different experiences and to honor and respect them for that.”
Sarah's pregnancy trauma had us crying, for everyone who hated Feyre's pregnancy arc we highly recommend you watch this

“All of my books kind of have mirrored my own mental health journey even before I realized I had issues,” she said. “A lot of what Aelin went through and Feyre, all of that, like that was drawn from very broken places in me. [A Court of Mist and Fury], that came out of me and I didn’t even realize what that meant about me, but [A Court of] Silver Flames was really the first time when I understood the connection.”
